France 3
About France 3
France 3 is a national public broadcasting channel that's uniquely organized into 13 regional services, each providing local news bulletins (Ici 12/13 and Ici 19/20) and region-specific programming alongside national content. Owned by France Télévisions and originally launched in 1972 as the third colour channel of ORTF, it became FR3 in 1975 and was rebranded France 3 in 1992. The channel offers a balanced mix of cultural documentaries, entertainment shows, dramas (including nationally loved series and regional productions), children’s programming through the Okoo block, and coverage of major events like the Olympics, Tour de France, and Roland-Garros. Breizh‑ and Occitan-language shows promote regional heritage, making France 3 a strong amplifier of France’s local identities.
